Did you know that there are over 800,000 sellers on Etsy! The online marketplace has exploded in the past years connecting everyday people to sellers all over the globe. And that's a good thing. The problem is, if you're not careful when buying, you just might end up with something you didn't expect. I've made countless purchases through Etsy and learned a few things along the way. Here are 12 things to think about when considering a purchase as well as 12 of my favorite Etsy shops. You're welcome.
#1 How are the reviews? Look for sellers with high ratings AND many reviews.
#2 What are their store policies. All sellers make their own shop policies. Make sure you are comfortable with them before you buy.
#3 What is their refund policy?
#4 How long is their lead time? How long will it take to arrive?
#5 Are they one of a kind or ready to ship?
#6 Where are they shipping from? Etsy shops span the globe. Sellers from other countries may have longer ship times.
#7 Do they have a full profile? Photo, Description, links to social media, etc.
#8 How many items are in their shop? Just a few? Move on. Sellers that are serious (and therefore reliable) have a good selection of items.
#9 How long have they been selling?
#10 Are variations expected? Custom items may vary in color and size.
#11 Do they offer discounts? Some shops offer discounts for first time buyers or buying in bulk. Just ask!
#12 Not seeing exactly what you want? Just ask! Many sellers accommodate custom orders.
